A "no burning order" was issued by Governor Ivey for the state of Alabama on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023. Alabama's current dry condition has resulted in hundreds of wildfires and thousands of acres statewide in the past month. The Drought Emergency Declaration was signed by the Alabama Governor despite the upcoming rain we are expected to receive this weekend. The slight shower expected is not enough to undo the damage this current drought has brought. The drought is currently being monitored closely by the Alabama Forestry Commission. For any questions or concerns, please visit their website or contact local law enforcement.
