Did You Know?
The Henry County Road Department maintains roughly 700 miles of roads and about 95 bridges. This includes fixing road pavement, maintenance mowing, draining water properly, inspecting and repairing signs and bridges, and even removing trees from the road.

Speed limit signs are only required if the speed limit is different from what is listed according to Alabama state law. This means all paved county roads are automatically 45 mph, even if there is no speed limit sign.

“Can I dig through a dirt road, ditch, or ROW to run my own water line?”
No! Installing unapproved water lines on county roads, ditches, or Right-of-Way (ROW) is not allowed. These areas are maintained with heavy equipment that can easily damage underground lines. If property owners wish to install water lines, seeking special approval is essential to avoid possible damages and additional out-of-pocket costs for the citizens associated with these maintenance activities.

Henry County has no zoning or land use regulations in unincorporated areas.
However, property within city limits must follow the rules and regulations set by the city.
Henry County requires property owners to obtain a permit for driveway access on the
Right-of-Way (ROW).

Below are proper forms and applications.
